Notice and timing
How delinquency is handled
Grace period after the due date
30 days after the bill is due upon receipt; residential bills are considered delinquent after 30 days.
Late-fee calculation
For residential accounts, 1.5% is added when the bill is not paid within 30 days; when a shut-off notice is issued, an additional charge of $3 or 5% of the unpaid balance, whichever is greater, is added. Commercial sewer accounts use the same 30-day and 1.5% rule and shut-off-notice charge.
Disconnection timeline
Bills are due upon receipt and become delinquent after 30 days. The city publishes a Water Shut-Off Protection Act/SB998 discontinuance policy; customers needing protection should contact Finance Customer Service at 408-586-3100 within 13 days from the Final Notice Date to request an alternative payment arrangement or extension. The reviewed page does not expose the exact physical shutoff day after the final notice.
