Payment channels

Pay City of Sacramento Department of Utilities

Use the provider’s verified online, telephone, mail, or counter instructions. Check the final confirmation screen for the amount, processing date, and any transaction fee before submitting.

Primary online route

Use the official payment portal

The direct portal is the fastest route when it is available. The provider identifies its payment gateway as i-Doxs / secure8 hosted utility billing portal. Never enter account credentials into a lookalike site reached through an unsolicited message.

Telephone payment

Phone IVR

916-808-5454 is the City’s published utility customer-service and automated-payment number; the current customer page does not publish a separate branded IVR number.

Have your account number and payment instrument ready. Follow the provider’s recorded prompts and retain the confirmation number.

Alternative channels

Mail, text, and in-person payment instructions

Pay by text

The City’s current public payment pages do not publish a text-to-pay keyword, short code, or enrollment sequence. Customers can enroll and make payments through the authorized i-Doxs portal, the City Mobile Pay App, the automated phone system, or a customer-service representative. Treat unsolicited payment texts as suspicious and verify through the City’s official 916-808-5454 channel.

Mail-in address

City of Sacramento, Department of Utilities, 1395 35th Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95822. The City’s current payment page identifies this as the Department of Utilities mailing address and accepts check and money order as alternate payment methods; customers should follow the remittance instructions printed on the current bill for account-number handling.

Counters, drop boxes, and office hours

The Department of Utilities customer-service location is 1395 35th Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95822. Published customer-service hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m.–11:30 a.m., excluding holidays. The City says payments may be made with a customer-service representative and that the listed online, automated-phone, representative, mobile-app, check, money-order, cash, and home-bank-transfer methods carry no customer charge. The current page does not provide a complete separate list of cash counters, public drop boxes, or third-party payment locations; verify availability at 916-808-5454 before traveling.

Accepted digital instruments

What you can use online

The City publishes online payment through its authorized i-Doxs utility portal, the City Mobile Pay App, automated phone payment, payment with a customer-service representative, and bank transfer/home banking. The current customer page does not enumerate card-brand acceptance or mobile-wallet brands. Check, money order, cash, and home-bank transfer are identified as alternate methods; inaccurate bank information can cause a $25 returned-payment fee.

2026 transaction pricing

Convenience fees

No customer charge is published for payments made through the City’s online, automated-phone, customer-service, or Mobile Pay App channels. The City separately warns that inaccurate bank-account information can produce a $25 returned-payment fee. No 2026 percentage or flat card surcharge is listed on the current public customer page.

Fees can vary by payment type, channel, account class, and processor terms. The checkout screen is the final fee disclosure.

Payment guidance

Choose the payment channel that fits your deadline

The safest payment path is the one published by City of Sacramento Department of Utilities and matched to the account information on your bill. Online portals are convenient, but telephone, mail, counter, and drop-box options may follow different posting schedules and may use different fees.

For a routine payment, save the final confirmation page or IVR number and check when the transaction will post. For a same-day shut-off notice, do not assume that submitting a card payment automatically stops a field order; ask the provider what amount and confirmation are required.

Never send your account number, password, card details, or bank information to Water Ledger. Those details belong only on the provider’s verified payment channel or at an authorized counter.
