Provider-specific review
What the public record says about a leak adjustment
IRWD provides a specific leak-adjustment mechanism. First detect and repair the leak, then complete the District’s Customer Education Portal and its short quiz, which IRWD says takes approximately 10–15 minutes and is required before requesting an adjustment. The customer should verify the meter, check toilets/fixtures/irrigation, and can request a free Water Efficiency home survey; IRWD does not repair leaks on the customer side of the meter. If post-repair usage returns within the Low Volume or Base allocation, IRWD re-bills the usage originally charged in the Inefficient and Wasteful tiers at the conservation/base rate. The customer remains responsible for the water used, but the penalty-tier surcharge is removed through re-billing; the public rule does not describe a fixed receipt deadline, dollar cap, or one-time-per-period limit. Customers should retain repair evidence and contact 949-453-5300 or the Water Efficiency team if the post-repair usage does not normalize.
