Payment channels

Pay Sarasota County Public Utilities

Use the provider’s verified online, telephone, mail, or counter instructions. Check the final confirmation screen for the amount, processing date, and any transaction fee before submitting.

Primary online route

Use the official payment portal

The direct portal is the fastest route when it is available. The provider identifies its payment gateway as Paymentus functionality is identified in the County's portal transition materials; the current customer-facing CSS portal is hosted at css.scgovutility.com.. Never enter account credentials into a lookalike site reached through an unsolicited message.

Telephone payment

Phone IVR

(941) 861-6790. The County's welcome packet identifies this number for utility questions and 24-hour utility emergencies; the current bill-pay pages also direct customers to this number for portal and payment assistance.

Have your account number and payment instrument ready. Follow the provider’s recorded prompts and retain the confirmation number.

Alternative channels

Mail, text, and in-person payment instructions

Pay by text

The County's current portal supports email or text reminders for due dates, confirmations, and account notifications, but the official payment pages do not publish a separate text-to-pay keyword, enrollment short code, or text-only payment workflow. Customers should use the CSS portal or call Utility Customer Service rather than infer that a reminder subscription is a text-payment enrollment.

Mail-in address

Sarasota County Public Utility (S.C.P.U.), P.O. Box 31320, Tampa, FL 33631-3320. The County asks customers to allow five days for mailed payments. General correspondence goes to Sarasota County Public Utility Customer Service Office, P.O. Box 2553, Sarasota, FL 34230-2553.

Counters, drop boxes, and office hours

The Sarasota cashier office is at 1001 Sarasota Center Boulevard, Sarasota, FL 34240. Cashier hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m., and Thursday 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.; the cashier window closes daily from 1:00–2:00 p.m. The Venice location is 4000 S. Tamiami Trail, Room 2070, Venice, FL 34293, with the same weekday schedule and an approximately 12:30–1:30 p.m. cashier closure. The County lists in-person payment by check, money order, and credit/debit card; its drop boxes at both locations are checks only and are available 24 hours. Offices are closed weekends and most major holidays.

Accepted digital instruments

What you can use online

Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and bank-issued debit cards are accepted for residential accounts. The CSS portal also supports bank-draft eCheck/ACH and scheduled AutoPay; ACH/eCheck has no transaction fee under the current payment notice. Customers may use one-time payments without creating a portal account.

2026 transaction pricing

Convenience fees

$2.95 flat fee per credit or debit card transaction. The County states that the fee applies to online, phone, in-office, and credit/debit AutoPay or recurring transactions. Online ACH/eCheck, mailed checks, drop-box checks, and in-person non-card payment options avoid this fee.

Fees can vary by payment type, channel, account class, and processor terms. The checkout screen is the final fee disclosure.

Payment guidance

Choose the payment channel that fits your deadline

The safest payment path is the one published by Sarasota County Public Utilities and matched to the account information on your bill. Online portals are convenient, but telephone, mail, counter, and drop-box options may follow different posting schedules and may use different fees.

For a routine payment, save the final confirmation page or IVR number and check when the transaction will post. For a same-day shut-off notice, do not assume that submitting a card payment automatically stops a field order; ask the provider what amount and confirmation are required.

Never send your account number, password, card details, or bank information to Water Ledger. Those details belong only on the provider’s verified payment channel or at an authorized counter.
