Payment channels

Pay Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority (ABCWUA)

Use the provider’s verified online, telephone, mail, or counter instructions. Check the final confirmation screen for the amount, processing date, and any transaction fee before submitting.

Primary online route

Use the official payment portal

The direct portal is the fastest route when it is available. The provider identifies its payment gateway as Paymentus. Never enter account credentials into a lookalike site reached through an unsolicited message.

Alternative channels

Mail, text, and in-person payment instructions

Pay by text

A dedicated this detail was not publicly posted. ABCWUA's current official payment instructions publish bank draft, online guest/profile payments, recurring payments, phone payment, mail, curbside dropboxes, walk-in service, and Western Union. They do not publish a text-to-pay keyword, enrollment short code, or SMS payment opt-in procedure. HomeConnect usage alerts are separate from text-to-pay.

Mail-in address

ABCWUA, PO Box 27226, Albuquerque, NM 87125. The Authority also lists PO Box 568, Albuquerque, NM 87103-0568 for general correspondence/customer-service contact; checks should use the payment remittance address and account number shown on the bill.

Counters, drop boxes, and office hours

The primary customer-service payment counter is the ABCWUA Customer Service Center, 1441 Mission Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107, with lobby hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Curbside dropboxes are at 1441 Mission Ave. NE and at 5th & Marquette by City Hall. Western Union locations are also authorized, but customers are told to call ahead because individual hours and availability vary. The 2026 rate ordinance authorizes cash, check, ACH/electronic check, credit card, debit card, and digital-wallet payments; third-party Western Union charges may vary.

Accepted digital instruments

What you can use online

ACH/e-check, bank-draft debit from a checking or savings account, credit card, debit card, and digital wallet. ABCWUA's 2026 ordinance expressly authorizes these payment types; the Paymentus guest portal accepts account number and service ZIP code for one-time card payment.

2026 transaction pricing

Convenience fees

For residential accounts, $1.95 per credit-card, debit-card, or digital-wallet transaction. For non-residential accounts, 2.95% of the transaction amount. The 2026 ordinance does not state a separate ACH/e-check surcharge.

Fees can vary by payment type, channel, account class, and processor terms. The checkout screen is the final fee disclosure.

Payment guidance

Choose the payment channel that fits your deadline

The safest payment path is the one published by Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority (ABCWUA) and matched to the account information on your bill. Online portals are convenient, but telephone, mail, counter, and drop-box options may follow different posting schedules and may use different fees.

For a routine payment, save the final confirmation page or IVR number and check when the transaction will post. For a same-day shut-off notice, do not assume that submitting a card payment automatically stops a field order; ask the provider what amount and confirmation are required.

Never send your account number, password, card details, or bank information to Water Ledger. Those details belong only on the provider’s verified payment channel or at an authorized counter.
