Pay by text

The Town’s current Water Department page advertises Pay by Text through the online billing service. Customers enroll from the portal after registering an account; no public SMS keyword is published. The same service supports AutoPay and paperless billing.

Mail-in address

Town of Hempstead Water Department, 1995 Prospect Avenue, East Meadow, NY 11554. The Department’s applications page directs original documents and correspondence to the administrative office; customers should use the remittance address printed on the current bill for payment mailings.

Counters, drop boxes, and office hours

The Water Department’s administrative office is at 1995 Prospect Avenue, East Meadow, New York. The public page provides the general department contact at 516-794-8300 and backflow desk hours of Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.; it does not publish a complete water-bill counter schedule. A blue drop box is available beside the stairs in front of the building for water forms/documents.

Convenience fees

The Water Department page does not state a current 2026 online convenience-fee amount. A separate Town tax FAQ identifies eGov Strategies as a processor for tax payments, but that tax fee schedule should not be assumed to apply to water bills.

Choose the payment channel that fits your deadline

The safest payment path is the one published by TOWN OF HEMPSTEAD WATER DEPARTMENT and matched to the account information on your bill. Online portals are convenient, but telephone, mail, counter, and drop-box options may follow different posting schedules and may use different fees.

For a routine payment, save the final confirmation page or IVR number and check when the transaction will post. For a same-day shut-off notice, do not assume that submitting a card payment automatically stops a field order; ask the provider what amount and confirmation are required.
