Alternative channels

Mail, text, and in-person payment instructions

Pay by text

The current Fargo utility pages advertise online Quick Pay, account history, paperless statements, recurring payments, and automatic-payment enrollment, but do not publish a pay-by-text keyword, short code, or SMS enrollment flow. Customers should use the MyFargo portal or call Utility Billing at 701-241-1324 for any account-specific text-payment capability.

Mail-in address

City of Fargo Water Department, P.O. Box 1066, Fargo, ND 58107. The City cautions that mail is delivered to City Hall on weekdays except legal holidays and that it is not responsible for lost or delayed mail.

Counters, drop boxes, and office hours

In-person payments are accepted at Fargo City Hall, 225 4th Street North, Fargo, ND 58102, Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except legal holidays. Cash, checks, and credit/debit cards are accepted for regular utility payments. The City’s current delinquent-restoration policy limits payments to credit card, debit card, cash, or money order after water is disconnected; personal checks and online e-checks are not accepted for that restoration transaction. Meter Department staff no longer accept payments, and courtesy yellow cards are no longer left at residences.

What you can use online

Fargo offers 24/7 online payment through the MyFargo/ePayUB portal, automatic and recurring payments, paperless statements, and 24/7 IVR payment. The City advertises credit/debit cards, checks, cash, and online account payment; the online platform supports payment-account setup and service transfers. For a delinquent restoration, the City specifically accepts card, cash, or money order and excludes personal check and online e-check for that transaction.

2026 transaction pricing

Convenience fees

A dedicated this detail was not publicly posted. The reviewed current Fargo utility-payment pages do not state a universal 2026 online card flat fee or percentage surcharge. Customers should review the live MyFargo/ePayUB checkout before authorization; the City’s separate credit-card policy addresses security and final-sale rules but does not publish a utility convenience-fee amount.

Fees can vary by payment type, channel, account class, and processor terms. The checkout screen is the final fee disclosure.

Payment guidance

Choose the payment channel that fits your deadline

The safest payment path is the one published by City of Fargo Water Utility and Utility Billing Department and matched to the account information on your bill. Online portals are convenient, but telephone, mail, counter, and drop-box options may follow different posting schedules and may use different fees.

For a routine payment, save the final confirmation page or IVR number and check when the transaction will post. For a same-day shut-off notice, do not assume that submitting a card payment automatically stops a field order; ask the provider what amount and confirmation are required.

Never send your account number, password, card details, or bank information to Water Ledger. Those details belong only on the provider’s verified payment channel or at an authorized counter.
