Notice and timing
How delinquency is handled
Grace period after the due date
Zero-day grace after the printed due date is the published rule: the March 29, 2026 rate sheet says a 10% late fee applies to accounts paid after the due date. The page does not publish a separate calendar-day buffer.
Late-fee calculation
A 10% late fee is applied to the utility bill after the due date, capped at $100. Returned payments may incur up to a $50 fee. A $1.70 monthly Meter Replacement Program surcharge applies to each account, with a $1.70 homestead discount; these are not late fees.
Disconnection timeline
Canton does not publish an exact day-by-day disconnection calendar. If a customer makes a delinquent online payment, the billing office must be notified because service may be disrupted before the online transaction posts; unpaid charges may also be certified to the Stark County Auditor under the service application.
