Notice and timing
How delinquency is handled
Grace period after the due date
3 days before the 10% late fee, according to Amarillo's published payment rules. Older delinquency stages are described separately and may add fixed field or pull charges.
Late-fee calculation
Amarillo applies a 10% late fee when a bill is three days late. At 60 days late, the City states that the account receives the 10% fee plus a $25 fee; at 93 days late, the account receives the 10% fee, the $25 fee, and a further $25 pull fee. The City may remove penalties for up to three months on an active account, but pull and door-tag fees are excluded.
Disconnection timeline
The published progression is: three days late, 10% late fee; 60 days late, an additional $25 fee; 90 days late, the account is subject to a pink door tag and a deadline printed on that tag; 93 days late, the published $25 pull fee may be added and service may be pulled. Customers who cannot pay in full should call before the tag deadline to ask about the minimum payment or an eligible payment plan.
