Notice and timing
How delinquency is handled
Grace period after the due date
16 days from the bill mailing date without penalty; due dates vary by the four geographic billing zones. The City also mails past-due notices around seven days after the due date and places an automated call around 14 days after the due date.
Late-fee calculation
Beginning the day after the due date, the late charge is the greater of 10% of the past-due balance or $2.50. Residential customers age 60 or older may apply in writing for a late-fee waiver up to 25 days beyond the original due date, subject to the City’s requirements.
Disconnection timeline
If the bill remains unpaid within 14 days of the bill due date, the City may disconnect service. A customer who pays by 4:30 p.m. can request same-day restoration; otherwise restoration is generally the next business day during normal hours.
