Provider-specific review
What the public record says about a leak adjustment
SPU offers leak adjustments for most leak types. A customer should contact Utility Account Services at 206-684-5800 after receiving the initial high bill and complete the repair within 60 days. Underground leaks between the meter and the foundation require the customer to call SPU after repair and schedule an inspection; the repair must not be backfilled, covered, or cut-and-capped until SPU inspects and approves it. For other leaks, submit proof such as photographs, receipts, invoices, or a written explanation of the repair. Theft, vandalism, and negligence are excluded. Customers should preserve the bill, meter reading, repair date, plumber documentation, and any inspection report; the adjustment amount is determined under SPU's CS-325 Leak Adjustment rule rather than by an automatic full-bill cancellation.
