Payment channels

Pay West Virginia-American Water Company

Use the provider’s verified online, telephone, mail, or counter instructions. Check the final confirmation screen for the amount, processing date, and any transaction fee before submitting.

Primary online route

Use the official payment portal

The direct portal is the fastest route when it is available. The provider identifies its payment gateway as American Water MyWater. Never enter account credentials into a lookalike site reached through an unsolicited message.

Telephone payment

Phone IVR

1-855-748-6066, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for automated bill payment. Customer service and emergency reporting are handled at 1-800-685-8660.

Have your account number and payment instrument ready. Follow the provider’s recorded prompts and retain the confirmation number.

Alternative channels

Mail, text, and in-person payment instructions

Pay by text

West Virginia American Water does not publish a text-to-pay keyword or enrollment workflow. Its payment-location instructions allow a customer to have the unique barcode from the bill texted to the customer for presentation at an authorized checkout location, but that is not a text-payment authorization. MyWater supports payment, Auto Pay, paperless billing, usage tracking, and alerts online.

Mail-in address

West Virginia American Water, P.O. Box 371880, Pittsburgh, PA 15250-7800. Customers should include the payment stub, send a check or money order, and not mail cash, staples, or paper clips.

Counters, drop boxes, and office hours

The company does not publish one universal public walk-in cashier address and hours for the statewide territory. Customers can use the official payment-location map to find authorized retail checkout locations and present the account-specific barcode and amount due; location hours and accepted instruments are controlled by each authorized site. The company’s primary customer-service center is reachable at 1-800-685-8660 Monday–Friday 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m., with self-service and emergency reporting available 24/7. Do not send CARES or Dollar Energy applications to an office or payment location; those programs use their stated agency channels.

Accepted digital instruments

What you can use online

MyWater and the guest bill-pay page support one-time bank-account/electronic-check and credit-card payments. The phone system accepts Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and electronic check from a bank account. Customers can schedule recurring credit-card or checking/savings Auto Pay. The company currently states that the former $1.95 third-party credit-card transaction fee has been eliminated; any fee shown by a specific channel at checkout controls.

2026 transaction pricing

Convenience fees

The current West Virginia billing page states that the $1.95 third-party transaction fee for credit-card payments has been eliminated. No separate universal 2026 online percentage or electronic-check surcharge is published on the reviewed official page; verify any account-specific disclosure in MyWater or guest checkout.

Fees can vary by payment type, channel, account class, and processor terms. The checkout screen is the final fee disclosure.

Payment guidance

Choose the payment channel that fits your deadline

The safest payment path is the one published by West Virginia-American Water Company and matched to the account information on your bill. Online portals are convenient, but telephone, mail, counter, and drop-box options may follow different posting schedules and may use different fees.

For a routine payment, save the final confirmation page or IVR number and check when the transaction will post. For a same-day shut-off notice, do not assume that submitting a card payment automatically stops a field order; ask the provider what amount and confirmation are required.

Never send your account number, password, card details, or bank information to Water Ledger. Those details belong only on the provider’s verified payment channel or at an authorized counter.
