Notice and timing
How delinquency is handled
Grace period after the due date
The bill is due upon receipt and becomes past due on the delinquent date printed on the bill; the reviewed materials do not state a universal number of days before that date.
Late-fee calculation
A 10% delinquent fee is added to the balance when the bill becomes past due. If unpaid, an additional processing fee of 0.5% per month is charged; a returned check or automatic payment adds a $25 returned-payment fee.
Disconnection timeline
After the bill becomes delinquent, Fairfield mails a shutoff notice stating the proposed shutoff date. If unpaid, service is interrupted and a $25 nonpayment processing fee is added, or $35 if the restoration request occurs after working hours. The reviewed page does not state the exact calendar-day interval from billing to shutoff.
