Notice and timing
How delinquency is handled
Grace period after the due date
A water bill is due 35 days after the City mails it. The City’s ordinance treats the account as delinquent 42 days after mailing, and the $20.70 late-payment fee is assessed after that delinquency point.
Late-fee calculation
The City publishes a flat $20.70 late-payment-of-bill charge. It also lists a $25 returned-check fee, $50 pull-meter and replace-meter charges, $60 damaged-lock or unauthorized-reconnection charge, and other service fees. The City may also pursue liens, collections, or legal remedies for delinquent balances.
Disconnection timeline
Day 0 is the billing or mailing date; payment is due on day 35; the account is delinquent on day 42 and the $20.70 late fee may be charged after that point. If the balance remains delinquent for at least 60 days, the City may discontinue water service, which is approximately day 102 from mailing unless a notice, payment arrangement, hardship protection, or other legal requirement changes the date.
