What the public record says about a leak adjustment
Miramar instructs customers to turn off all water-using devices, watch the meter’s low-flow indicator, test toilets with dye or food coloring, inspect appliances and valves, and hire a plumber if an interior-wall or underground leak is suspected. If a property leak is confirmed, the City may grant one sewer leak adjustment per calendar year for up to three months of service. The customer must submit a repair receipt to Water Billing identifying what was repaired, the location, and the repair date. If approved, the City uses an average from the months before the problem to calculate an adjustment on sewer charges only; the policy is intended to reduce wastewater charges caused by water that was lost and did not enter the sewer.
