Delinquency and service protection

Understand the shut-off process before it reaches your door

The safest time to ask about a past-due balance, payment arrangement, or hardship protection is before the final notice. This page translates the provider’s published rules into a practical checklist.

Notice and timing

How delinquency is handled

Grace period after the due date

15 days after the billing date. Bills are due and payable when rendered and become delinquent if unpaid within 15 days after the billing date.

Late-fee calculation

The current 2026 City Code sets the monthly delinquency charge at 5% of the delinquent balance, with a $5 minimum. The code also authorizes annual index-based rate adjustments effective on or after October 1 and a possible mandatory water-restriction surcharge when a governing water-management authority declares a shortage.

Disconnection timeline

The account is delinquent after day 15. The current public billing page and City Code specify the delinquency trigger and late fee but do not publish a universal calendar day for physical shutoff after delinquency; customers should expect additional notice and should contact Customer Care immediately to request payment help or an arrangement before field disconnection.

Statutory warning protocol

What notice should you expect?

Palm Bay’s public pages do not publish a single universal notice sequence, door-hanger policy, or legally fixed day count for nonpayment termination. The account holder should monitor the bill’s urgent messages, use InvoiceCloud reminders and pay-by-text if enrolled, and contact Utilities Customer Care at 321-952-3420 when a payment problem occurs. Notices and due dates can vary by billing cycle and account status.

If a notice seems wrong

Document the account balance, payment confirmation, notice date, and any household medical or accessibility concern. Then call the provider using the contact information on its official bill or profile before the stated deadline.

Restoring service

Reconnection costs and timing

The public Palm Bay billing pages do not expose a universal 2026 standard-hours versus after-hours nonpayment reconnection amount. Customers should obtain the account-specific restoration quote from Utilities Customer Care; unrelated routine turn-on/turn-off or meter/service charges may also apply.

Need a payment arrangement?

Ask before the shut-off date

Tell the customer-service representative that you are responding to a delinquency notice and ask specifically about installment plans, hardship protection, charity referrals, and the amount required to stop the disconnection order.

Customer protection guide

What to do when a bill becomes urgent

A delinquency notice from City of Palm Bay Utilities – Water and Wastewater should be treated as a time-sensitive account document. Read the exact due date, amount required, notice method, and contact instructions on the notice, then compare them with the provider details in this guide.

If you have already paid, gather the confirmation number and posting date. If you cannot pay the full amount, call before the stated shut-off date and ask about arrangements, hardship protections, agency referrals, and the minimum amount needed to pause action.

Keep the conversation specific: ask what will stop the order, when the payment must post, whether a reconnection fee applies, and whether the utility requires a separate request for medical, accessibility, or household-protection status.
