Payment channels

Pay New Jersey-American Water Company, Inc.

Use the provider’s verified online, telephone, mail, or counter instructions. Check the final confirmation screen for the amount, processing date, and any transaction fee before submitting.

Primary online route

Use the official payment portal

The direct portal is the fastest route when it is available. The provider identifies its payment gateway as American Water MyWater. Never enter account credentials into a lookalike site reached through an unsolicited message.

Telephone payment

Phone IVR

1-855-748-6066 for 24/7 payment-by-phone self-service; the New Jersey customer-service center is 1-800-272-1325, Monday–Friday 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. with 24/7 self-service and emergency reporting.

Have your account number and payment instrument ready. Follow the provider’s recorded prompts and retain the confirmation number.

Alternative channels

Mail, text, and in-person payment instructions

Pay by text

New Jersey American Water does not publish a text-to-pay keyword or enrollment sequence. The billing page allows customers to have an account-specific payment barcode texted to them for use at an authorized checkout location; this is a barcode-delivery convenience and not an automated text-payment authorization. MyWater supports online payment, Auto Pay, paperless billing, alerts, and usage history.

Mail-in address

New Jersey American Water, P.O. Box 371331, Pittsburgh, PA 15250-7331. Include the payment stub, send a check or money order, and do not send cash, staples, or paper clips. Written correspondence goes separately to New Jersey American Water, 1 Water Street, Camden, NJ 08102.

Counters, drop boxes, and office hours

New Jersey American Water does not publish one universal statewide walk-in cashier office for ordinary bill payment. Customers may use the official payment-location map to find authorized retail checkout locations and present the unique barcode from the bill together with the amount due; each location sets its own hours and accepted instruments. The company’s correspondence/office address is 1 Water Street, Camden, NJ 08102, but the public customer pages do not represent that address as a universal cash counter. Confirm the location before traveling.

Accepted digital instruments

What you can use online

MyWater and guest bill pay support electronic-check or bank-account payments and credit-card payments. The 24/7 phone line accepts Visa and Mastercard and electronic payment options; the company’s billing pages also describe online one-time card payments, Auto Pay from a credit card or checking/savings account, paperless billing, and budget billing. A current customer brochure warns that a $1.95 third-party transaction fee may apply to some online/card channels and says direct electronic-check payment through MyWater can avoid that charge; the live checkout disclosure controls.

2026 transaction pricing

Convenience fees

No single universal online fee is stated on the current New Jersey customer-service page. The current bill brochure says a $1.95 third-party transaction fee may apply, while direct MyWater electronic-check payment is presented as a way to avoid it; customers should verify the channel-specific disclosure at live checkout. Phone card payments are described as carrying a small fee.

Fees can vary by payment type, channel, account class, and processor terms. The checkout screen is the final fee disclosure.

Payment guidance

Choose the payment channel that fits your deadline

The safest payment path is the one published by New Jersey-American Water Company, Inc. and matched to the account information on your bill. Online portals are convenient, but telephone, mail, counter, and drop-box options may follow different posting schedules and may use different fees.

For a routine payment, save the final confirmation page or IVR number and check when the transaction will post. For a same-day shut-off notice, do not assume that submitting a card payment automatically stops a field order; ask the provider what amount and confirmation are required.

Never send your account number, password, card details, or bank information to Water Ledger. Those details belong only on the provider’s verified payment channel or at an authorized counter.
