What the public record says about a leak adjustment
Amarillo publishes a defined leak-adjustment process. A residential or commercial leak must produce consumption more than 50,000 gallons above the customer's 12-month average, and the customer must provide documentation of the repair, such as a plumber's receipt or a receipt for purchased repair parts. If all requirements are met, a leak adjustment may be applied to the two highest bills, with only one adjustment allowed every two years. Commercial customers may also be considered for a high-consumption adjustment when a full leak adjustment is unavailable; that alternative can apply once per year for up to two billing periods. Customers should first review hourly and monthly usage in the new portal, then submit a General Customer Service Request or contact (806) 378-3030.
