Leak relief and household assistance

A high water bill may have a path to review

Hidden plumbing failures can produce an alarming bill before the problem is visible. This guide separates what Corpus Christi Water (City of Corpus Christi Water Utilities) publicly describes from the practical steps every customer can take while requesting help.

Provider-specific review

What the public record says about a leak adjustment

The current official Corpus Christi pages reviewed do not publish a universal 2026 residential high-bill leak-credit formula, maximum adjustment, repair-receipt rule, or claim deadline. Customers should use the City's water-usage portal to review current-cycle, daily-average, and historical consumption; inspect the customer-side plumbing and irrigation; document the meter reading and repair; and contact 3-1-1 or the Utility Billing Office to request a bill review or payment arrangement. The City's conservation materials describe leak detection and repair as a water-loss-control responsibility, but the published customer-facing rate and assistance pages do not guarantee forgiveness of private-side leak consumption.

Utility assistance

Customer assistance and eligibility

Project One Water is the City's current utility-assistance program. Corpus Christi Water partners with Mission 911, and qualifying applicants must be current City utility customers, demonstrate financial need or hardship, provide income verification and utility bills, and meet Mission 911's criteria. Applications are first-come, first-served and limited by available funding; the City does not publish a fixed household credit cap, senior discount, or disabled-veteran reduction on the current program page. Mission 911 can be reached at (361) 882-0911 at 911 Park Avenue, Corpus Christi, TX 78401.

State and federal connections

Where to ask for broader aid

The current Corpus Christi program page emphasizes locally funded Project One Water support rather than a separately administered federal or Texas water-assistance portal. The City says Project One Water supplements Mission 911's existing assistance and directs residents to apply with income and utility-bill documentation. Customers should also ask 3-1-1 about any active state or federal household-water assistance available at the time of application; the current official pages reviewed do not publish a FY2026 LIHWAP application URL, benefit cap, or automatic utility-account integration workflow.

Leak and assistance notes

Build the file before asking Corpus Christi Water (City of Corpus Christi Water Utilities) for relief

A high bill can have several causes, including a hidden plumbing failure, irrigation use, a meter issue, a change in occupancy, or a rate adjustment. The provider’s leak policy determines whether any credit is available; an unusually high bill does not automatically qualify.

Keep a dated record of the reading, the suspected source, the repair, the contractor or parts receipt, and the return to normal use. Ask whether the utility requires a specific form, a licensed repair, a meter test, photos, or a request within a fixed number of days.

For income-related difficulty, ask about local assistance, payment arrangements, state programs, and community referrals separately from a leak adjustment. These programs often use different applications, documents, funding limits, and deadlines.
